St Therese of Lisieux
As you may know, we look forward to the visit of St Therese of Lisieux’s relics to Leeds Cathedral on 3-5 October this year. With Empty Hands: the message of St Therese of Liseux by Conrad de Meester may be a great way to learn about her life in preparation for the visit.
From the sleeve of the book… “This is an entirely new edition and translation of Conrad de Meester’s brilliant and moving presentation of the life, thought and spirituality of St Therese of Lisieux…
“Fr de Meester asks why and how this young girl, who asked to be admitted to the Carmel of Lisieux and persevered in her vocation to a hidden life in an obscure corner of France, is not only loved and invoked by millions of people but has become a profound influence on theology, spirituality, and the missionary apostolate, culminating in her being declared a doctor of the Church.”
Conrad de Meester is a Belgian Discalced Carmelite who has made the interpretation and exposition of the life and thought of St Therese his life’s work.
With Empty Hands is 142 pages long. It is published in paperback by Burns and Oates (a Continuum imprint) www.continuumbooks.com ISBN 0-860123-21-9

It is wonderful you are giving a list of books on St Therese’s life, she is a wonderful Saint, and we can learn from reading about her life and her little way. The book mentioned above ‘With Empty Hands’ gives us so much to think and pray about, especially about her life and spirituality. As a member of the third order of Carmel,I thank you for helping to promote the life of our dear sister St Therese. God bless, and I pray she will send many roses on the Diocese of Leeds.
