Wayfaring

wayfaringWayfaring invites you to make your own journey of prayer and lived experience alongside Jesus, from his birth through his earthly ministry, suffering and death, and into resurrected life. Journeys are made very simply: by placing one foot in front of the other. As you journey, Wayfaring enables you to reflect, step by step, on what the Gospel story means for you.

Inspired by the spirituality of St Ignatius of Loyola, the book welcomes all ‘wayfarers’ – those just setting out on the adventure of faith, those who are already seasoned travellers, those of all Christian traditions or of none, those ‘inside’ and those ‘outside’ the church.

Margaret Silf was trained by the Jesuits in accompanying others in prayer, she is the author of the highly acclaimed Landmarks, Taste and See, Daysprings and The Miller’s Tale and Other Parables(All DLT) and Sacred Spaces (Lion)

Wayfaring is 209 pages long and has an introduction and ten chapters. It is published in paperback by Darton Longman and Todd (DLT) ISBN 0 232 52403 3 and is priced £9.95. It can be purchased from St. Paul’s Bookshop, Hinsley Hall, 62 Headingley Lane, Leeds, LS6 2BX. Tel 0113 275 4043 Fax 0113 275 3207 and all good bookshops.

We aim to begin reading from Friday 23rd January 2009. Do join us when you can!

  1. I’ve not read any of the Margaret Silf books before so this is a new adventure! I’m finding that there is lots to think about in every chapter. Not all the exercises appeal, so I simply skip onto the next. The second chapter, ‘A walk on the dark side’ was interesting. The reflection in the story of Cain and Abel really challenged me.

  2. I found the languge of this book difficult to assimilate at first – this is the first book by this author that I have read. I find that some of the exercises are not for me, but on the whole I am finding the book interesting.

  3. I’m reading chapter 5 (Scandalous Blessings) at the moment and have been struck by the concept of being ‘apprenticed’ to Jesus. Not only are we invited to walk alongside him but we are encouraged to watch him in action and listen to all he says.
